THE FUTURE OF EDGE COMPUTING IN INDUSTRY

The technology, Edge computing, which have the power to change and modify the future of devices and technology in the upcoming scenario.

WHAT IS EDGE COMPUTING?

Edge computing is the advance version of Cloud Computing. To understand Edge Computing we must first understand Cloud Computing. In Cloud Computing our data is stored too far at data centers, which can be accessed through internet connection. We all have used Google Drive, Drop Box or One Drive, at least we might have stored our photos to Google photos. All these services are based on Cloud Computing. Since when Cloud Computing came into presence it made our lives easy.

For example: In an industry, each employee  have data of about 10 GB, 12GB or can be of 1 TB, then to store them there is demand of high drivers to store them, so through Cloud Computing it becomes easy , all can store data on Cloud and we can save a lot of storage.

But in Cloud location coverage is global and Edge Computing it brings computation closer to the network edge. The amount of bandwidth is reduced in this.

WHY EDGE COMPUTING?

What was happening in Cloud  that our data was stored too far from us on servers due to which we call it Cloud Computing or Cloud Service , as the Cloud is always far in the sky. Similarly in Edge Computing, Edge means “boundary line of a surface”, hence it works for the same. As the data centers are far in Cloud, Edge computing data centers will at the Edge. It can be done like different countries can have their own data centers or even individual different cities can have their own data centers.

HOW EDGE COMPUTING GONING TO WORK?

Edge Computing working can be dependent on mainly 2 things:

  • 5G connectivity: why 5 G connectivity is important because how much speed 4G connectivity has it’s not possible to work with Edge computing as it requires a high speed of internet connection.
  • Artificial intelligence: the data management done by humans in 1 hr it can be done in 1 sec by AI .

BENEFITS IN FUTURE:

  1. Low specs with high graphics: Cloud gaming brought a huge benefits in Gaming as in simple PC or phone also high graphics games can be played. This can be added with 5 G connectivity and Edge computing to get more enhancements in it.
  2. Robotics: Robots speed will be increase. For e.g.: like Sophia, if she wants to learn a new language and she is connected with Cloud she can go to the internet and install the file in 10 seconds. The moment Edge computing will be used in it Sophia can do it in 1 second.
  3. Improvement in Security: when we use cloud services, they are too far due to which there may be problem of latency and any data can be interrupted, so data can damage. But when Edge Computing will be used data can be more secure in comparison.

CONCLUSION

The main motive to introduce Edge Computing is that the Data transfer speed must be increased with the help of 5G connectivity and AI. Hence in the coming years Edge computing is going to play a major role in industrial development.
